“Better Home. Brighter Tomorrow”DAB announces 26 candidates running forthe 2025 Legislative Council General Election

The Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong (DAB) Executive Committee, during its meeting today, approved the nomination of 26 members (see Appendix 1) to participate in the Legislative Council General Election to be held on December 7. Additionally, the Committee endorsed an overall campaign platform themed "Better Home, Brighter Tomorrow."

The DAB is fielding 13 candidates in the Geographical Constituencies through direct elections, five in the Functional Constituencies, and eight in the Election Committee Constituency. Among the candidates, 14 are incumbent LegCo members seeking re-election. Six of these incumbents – Mr. Gary CHAN Hak-kan, Ms. Starry LEE Wai-king, Mr. Holden CHOW Ho-ding, Mr. CHAN Hok Fung, Mr. Vincent CHENG Wing-shun, and Mr. Frankie NGAN Man-yu – will be contesting in Geographical Constituencies. Four incumbents – Ms. Elizabeth QUAT, Mr. Rock CHEN Chung-nin, Ms. Mr. Nixie LAM, and Prof. CHAN Wing-kwong – will be running in the Election Committee Constituency. Two incumbents, Mr. Ben CHAN Han-pan and Mr. Steven HO Chun-yin, will transition to contest seats in the Election Committee Constituency. Mr. CHAN Yung will continue his candidacy for the HKSAR deputies to the National People's Congress, HKSAR members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and representatives of relevant national organisations Functional Constituency. Mr. Edmund WONG Chun-sek will continue his candidacy for the Accountancy Functional Constituency.
This election also marks the first Legislative Council bids under the improved electoral system for several DAB members. Those contesting Geographical Constituencies include Ms. Annie LEE Ching-har, Ms. Elaine CHIK Kit-ling, Mr. CHEUNG Pui-kong, Mr. Chris IP Ngo-tung, Mr. Jeff YIU Ming, Ms. KWOK Fu-yung, and Ms. LO Yuen-ting. Candidates for the Election Committee Constituency are Mr. Roy CHU Lap-wai and Mr. HUNG Kam-in. Mr. Jack CHEUNG Ki-tang will contest the Commercial (Third) Functional Constituency, and Mr. CHAN Pok-chi will contest the Agriculture and Fisheries Functional Constituency. Ms. CHU Lai-ling will again stand for electionin the Social Welfare Functional Constituency.
The 26 candidates have an average age of 47 years, with the youngest being Ms. KWOK Fu-yung (35 years old). The slate includes eight female candidates.

The central theme of the DAB's campaign, encompassing its slogan, election manifesto (see Appendix 2), and eletion platform (see Appendix 3), is "Better Home, Brighter Tomorrow." In its election manifesto, the DAB states that Hong Kong is our home. Home is where the heart is. It deserves our love and dedication. Together, we must strive to make it a better place for everyone who calls this city home. Consequently, the "Better Home, Brighter Tomorrow" election platform is centered on three key pillars: safeguarding national security, boosting economic prosperity, and improving peoples’ livelihoods. The DAB reiterates its unwavering commitment to the principles of loving the country and loving Hong Kong, its founding mission of serving the public, and its pragmatic approach to work. The Alliance pledges to collaborate with all sectors of society to build a Hong Kong characterized by a diversified economy, extensive connectivity, and equitable sharing of opportunities.
