DAB chairperson Starry Lee said that this upcoming District Council election will be held during the most difficult period Hong Kong has faced since the Handover. The past 2-3 months have seen violence and rioting throughout many districts of Hong Kong. The majority of residents feel extremely worried about and distressed over the situation to the point where some have not left their homes. At least 21 offices of the DAB have been vandalised and our councilors and service teams have constantly been harassed and doxxed.
Starry Lee stressed that the 179 DAB members standing for election will continue to hold firm to their convictions and will not shirk from fear, harassment or challenges. The DAB team is resolute in its work of defending the community and serving the people. Finally, she demands that the government to take every measure to ensure that the election will be held under safe and fair circumstances, allowing voters to vote for their choices free from fear or intimidation.
